Datasafe: safe against fire and water damage

In the datasafe (also called tape vault) of Koninklijke Saan fire and water do not stand a chance of damaging your data tapes. In case of a fire outside the safe its contents remain unharmed for 120 minutes. The safe is also resistant against large quantities of fire extinguishing water. Fire inside the safe is immediately fought with an ultra-modern, harmless and environmentally friendly gaseous extinguishing system.

The safe is located in our historical archive space, secured with two doors fitted with a 3-star SKG-lock (the highest standard for locks).
 

Technical specifications

The most important technical specifications of the tape vault: 

• All passageways have been sealed and are fire-resistant: each passageway has its own quality mark 
• When there is no activity a main switch cuts off the power in the entire area 
• A light indicates when power is on 
• Stable temperature between 16 and 20ºC. 
• Relative humidity between 35-55% 
• Air conditioning through a building management installation with automatic dispatch to the installer in case of disruptions 
• Temperature and humidity are continuously monitored through data loggers. This data is also saved and stored. 
• The safe is secured with a double safe door: the first is fitted with an electronic lock and the second with a key lock 
• Security by means of rings:
  - The first ring is the gate on the outside
  - The second ring is the terrain fitted with cameras
  - The third ring is the office or archive warehouse
  - The fourth ring is the historical area
  - The fifth ring is the first safe door
  - The sixth ring is the second safe door
• Overall fire resistance of the safe is approximately 4 hours
