De Telegraaf’s printing presses relocated internally

Saan relocated various large and small printing machines internally at De Telegraaf’s printing works. Saan carried out the internal relocation and installation of these printing presses in 10 weeks, mainly during the dayshift.

Over a period of three months, on behalf of ManRoland Web Systems, Saan Industrial Relocation relocated various large and small printing machines internally at De Telegraaf. At the Voorburgwal site, in the web offset shop where the De Telegraaf daily newspaper is printed, small and large printing machines were removed during the first phase. In the second phase, the printing machines were placed in their new positions by Saan’s machine handlers. The Saan 320-tonne gantry crane was used for this. The 50-tonne machine carriage developed specially for the relocation of these extra-heavy loads was also used. The small printing machines all weigh 25 tonnes and the big printing machines weigh about 45 tonnes.

  • To spread the load more evenly over the floors, 55 excavation mats were laid down and a track of boards with ramps on and off was put down. This allowed the load to be correctly spread.

Saan carried out the relocation and installation of the printing machines during the dayshifts over 10 weeks. Then Saan’s industrial relocators assisted ManRoland for a further 2 weeks during the dayshifts and nightshifts with the removal and fitting of press parts, catwalks, paper feeds and the like. The collaboration between ManRoland and Saan went very well, the production processes were disrupted as little as possible and that made De Telegraaf’s project managers very satisfied.
